Luka Maras was born on the lovely Croatian coast, before moving to the capital Zagreb and beyond. He was magnetically drawn to computers and was buying computer magazines even before ever seeing an actual PC.
After exploring computer graphics in Deluxe Paint on a monochrome XT PC 4.77 MHz machine, he got his hands on an Amiga 500. Something happened here. Amiga was a turning point, with its wonderful world of demos and games.
Then came the web, the first site Luka built (text only Lynx optimized site) and the rest is history. :)
Luka worked as a web designer, in firms and as a freelancer, for major croatian companies, like Riviera, whose website, visited by tens of thousands each month, he converted to standards-compliant XHTML and CSS. He also did a lot of Flash work for myriad of other companies, both large and small.
In 2003, discovering his innate talent to pass knowledge onto others, Luka turned to IT education and got a job as a teacher in Algebra, the leading IT educational institution in the region, where he held courses on Macromedia Flash in particular and web design in general. He was elected the teacher of the year soon afterwards!
In his free time, Luka likes to read all kinds of literature, play with mnemonics, learn new languages and read french and japanese comics. He is also a Mensa International member and a Flash MX certified designer.
